An Unexpected Journey into Creativity

Here I am, writing about art. Who would have thought? Me, the introverted scientist with a methodical and analytical mind. It's not that art was ever entirely foreign to me, but I never really saw myself as creative. As a child, whenever we were asked to draw, I often found myself without ideas: what should I draw? Lacking inspiration, I would always sketch the same scene—a house, a tree beside it, and a sun in the corner of the page. Sometimes, I'd even add a stick figure to bring life to the simple scene. This repetition led me to believe that drawing wasn't for me, that I didn't have that artistic touch.

Over a year ago, life presented me with an emotional challenge. As an introvert, I won’t go into detail, but suffice it to say, it led to a lot of introspection. Someone suggested I put my thoughts down on paper, to express them through writing, like a personal journal. That’s how I started writing, just to clarify my thoughts and externalize my emotions. But after the words were on the page, I often felt the need to accompany them with an image, to give a face to what I was feeling. I tried finding these images on stock websites, but it was often a frustrating and time-consuming process.

The Discovery of AI: A Creative Turning Point

Around the same time, artificial intelligence was making headlines, catching my interest as a curious scientist. The idea that AI could create images fit perfectly with my desire to illustrate my writings. It felt natural to test generative AI. That’s how I discovered NightCafe, a platform where you can create artwork from simple descriptions. I gave it a try, typing a prompt to represent a significant moment in my life. And there it was—magic happened. The generated image was exactly what I wanted. Beginner’s luck, I thought, but this experience showed me that maybe creativity wasn’t as out of reach as I’d always believed.

Since that day, AI has become a creative companion—a way for me to bring thoughts and emotions to life, and to share visual stories that, hopefully, resonate with others. Maison Arbre Soleil was born from this desire: to unite introspection with visual art, to share fragments of life, and to explore together what art and technology can achieve.

Curiosity as a Driving Force

Another aspect of my personality is my insatiable curiosity that always pushes me to learn more. I've always been eager to gain knowledge, and when I discovered the possibilities offered by AI, I dove in headfirst. I started exploring, taking courses, watching tutorials, and little by little, AI-assisted creation became a consuming passion. Every new technique I learned fascinated me even more, and the images generated by AI never ceased to amaze, surprise, and amuse me. It felt like rediscovering the magic of creation, but in a new and exciting way.

From Passion to Shop: Maison Arbre Soleil

But what to do with all these images? Who could I share this newfound passion with? That’s when an idea struck me: why not turn these creations into something tangible, into products that others might enjoy? This is how I discovered the world of print-on-demand, an opportunity to share my work while also exploring the potential for some additional income. Maison Arbre Soleil was born from this desire to share and make my creations accessible.

Today, sales are still at zero... and that’s totally OK! What matters most to me is the journey: learning how to build an online store, refining my art to make it more appealing, mastering SEO... Every step is a learning experience, every challenge overcome is a victory. I didn’t have big expectations from the start, and I knew from the beginning that my limited budget would restrict my chances of rapid success. But for me, Maison Arbre Soleil is above all a passion project—a creative outlet that allows me to grow. And even if, this time, I don’t have the so-called “beginner’s luck,” I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.

So, that’s how Maison Arbre Soleil was born. These three French words—"Maison" (house), "Arbre" (tree), and "Soleil" (sun)—are a nod to the child I once was, who, lacking inspiration, always drew the same scene: a house, a tree, and a sun. Today, these simple elements have become the symbol of my rediscovered creativity.

Launching the Blog: Create, Share, and Grow

During my research on SEO, one piece of advice kept coming up: share your creations through social media and blogs. Another new challenge for me, another chance to learn. The truth is, I haven’t used social media in a long time. My last memories of online social interactions date back to the days of ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, and Myspace! It took some time, but the idea eventually took root. I decided to start this blog, hoping to use it as a space to share my work, and perhaps, to share knowledge, ideas, and inspiration with all of you. Plus, this blog is also a way for me to develop my creativity in a new form: writing.

I also hope to grow as a person: to step out of my comfort zone, to overcome my social anxiety, and to continue to expand my creativity.

The Journey Begins Here

This blog will evolve continuously. I’m starting from scratch, so mistakes will be made, experience will be gained, and adjustments will follow. I’ll also need to juggle it with my personal schedule. Here’s my initial plan: write one blog post per week. I’d like to create a series highlighting my latest works, where I’ll share the entire creative process, from inspiration to interpretation, with each article in this series accompanied by a newsletter.
